THE annual Charis Hospice Charity Hunt raised RM177,000 to provide free palliative home care services to patients. Themed 'Cleaner, Greener, Healthier Penang', the hunt was divided into two categories - Motor Hunt and Mall Hunt. The Motor Hunt drew 49 teams while the Mall Hunt saw 105 teams participating. Charis Hospice public relations manager Sharon Peh said the hunt encouraged the participants to recycle items. "We've been holding this hunt with a different theme every year. This year, the number of participants was 400 which exceeded our initial target of 300," she said. Joanne Chow, 28, who participated in the Motor Hunt, said it was exciting but challenging at the same time. "It was tough maneuvering a tyre without knocking down the cones along the designated path, but it was fun! We laughed so much while doing that," she said. Also present at the event was state Welfare and Caring Society Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh. Charis Hospice is a charitable organisation offering free medical support and home care services to patients as well as teaching basic nursing care to families. It has three nurses and one doctor/medical director, administrator, public relations officer, administration manager, and about 60 volunteers.
