Charis Hospice Charity Hunt 2017-Discover Historical Penang was held on 22nd April, 2017. There were 115 teams for the Mall Hunt and 43 teams for the Motor Hunt. This year, the Mall Hunt was held at Gurney Plaza and was the biggest number of teams registered so far since the hunt started in 2006!
We had a total of 430 pax for our Hi-tea buffet held at Lot 33 and , YB Yap Soo Huey, Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly for Pulau Tikus, was the guest-of-honour at the Hi-tea buffet.
We want to thank all our sponsors who have supported us generously in terms of donation, prizes and goody bag items. We managed to meet our target this year which was RM180,000! This is only possible with everyone's kind help and generosity.
Motor hunter Wan Nor Rashidi bin Wan Tajuddin, 35, said the event not only enabled him to discover the history of Penang, it also encouraged teamwork. 'We had to construct a catapult and fling a piece of rubber as far as possible. Another task that my team enjoyed is constructing a piece of paper into a shape and then dropping the shape from a given height. The goal was to ensure that whatever we constructed takes the longest possible time to touch the ground. My team had fun strategizing and experimenting. We had to recollect what we learned in physics class in secondary school, which was aeons ago!' he laughs.
It was truly a wonderful and fun event and one that is again, a resounding success for Charis Hospice!
